The BookPrint Story.
Local short run book printing!
Bookprint was established to help you produce short run books and booklets – having a core specialty allows us to be more efficient than your traditional printer. This gives us a competitive point of difference which keeps us in full time work, so thank you. For you, it provides a great cost advantage, speedy delivery advantage and a quality advantage!
BookPrint Ltd was incorporated in April 2013 after being soft launched one year earlier as a sub-brand of Copy Colour Ltd which was established in 1990. This came about after Tim worked on several book jobs within Copy Colour (his father’s business) and discovered a need amongst businesses and authors to have a trusted partner to work with producing their books.
Like all good kiwi businesses we originally operated from a converted garage/basement, but now have a fantastic showroom/production space in Glenfield – right across from the library.
We started with short run, and added in long run.
Our vision at the beginning was to help people by offering them a short run book printing service. This is a relatively recent market due to technology advances that have made it possible. It is a fascinating time in both the print and book industry. Traditional book publishing would produce tens of thousands of books, put them in warehouses and ship them around the world. They would then; sell, not sell, get discounted or recycled. Short run printing is in the middle of reforming publishing.
In house we produce books ranging in volume from single digits through to 1,000 or 1,500. Whilst this was our original vision it became apparent that we could also help those who needed higher volumes of books produced. From here we have met various offshore printers so can now confidently offer a fantastic service helping you get offshore printing without the risk.
Bookshop quality. Design matters.
After fantastically printing (if we don’t say so ourselves) a number of books that looked disappointing. We recognised that not everyone is an expert in book design so we up skilled and grew the team and started offering this service. It has been a pleasure for both us and our customers to work together and increase the calibre of work produced. After all first impressions count, and you see a book before you read it. So the look is crucial to the success whether it is a business comms piece or a book for sale. Check out our type setting costs, or get in touch to discuss something more unique like catalogue or cook book design.
